A Garden in Winter

I went to visit Country Girl today. She's still having problems with her computer so it may be a while yet until she is back to posting here. So allow me to show you her garden in winter.

Not much to see in the front garden. I can't believe you can still see her foundation. Lake Effect is not living up to it's name this year but she's not complaining! Her porch is the place to be in the summer.

The heart in the side garden adds interest.

Not much going on in the green house or out in the vegetable garden.

Franklin went outside with me.

These geese are overwintering near the brook in front of the sunflower field.

  1. What a pretty house CG has Apple. I enjoyed seeing her surroundings, and of course, Franklin the kitty cat :)
I'll bet that nice big yard is wonderful with the garden looking bright and beautiful in the summer.
Nice to have the geese nearby.

  2. Yes, my thoughts exactly. What a great old (?) house.

  3. Winter pictures can be so depressing around here. After all our hard garden work it still looks like a house in the middle of snow! But ooh, what a house! I can see hanging out on the porch on a sunny day with a nice glass of iced tea...mmm...

  4. Thank you for the nice comments. The house is old...we were told it was built in the 1870's. It definately has "character" as they say. We are having fun redoing it but it is a slow process. Every time we gut a room we find some treasure in the wall that tells us a little about the prior inhabitants.

  5. It's a lovely house Country Girl - and looks as if it were made to look good in the snow. Hope you keep finding new treasures, but that porch must have been recognized as a treasure from the first glance!
